Diminishes Frustration

Scripture in John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken unto you that in me, ye might have peace.”

What a couple of weeks it has been. Things have not worked out so well for me. My teammates have been overly busy with stuff that no one had the time to upgrade my computer. I ain’t much of a tech guy and when it comes to formatting and installing things I  just don’t have a clue. Well, for the past weeks I was unable to type ‘coz I did not have Microsoft Word. I found myself sending documents through email to my friends and printing out from their computers. It was an irritating time. Till I took matters into my own hands and finally installed what I needed to get by.

“Can people really get that busy?” I kept asking myself. Couldn’t they spare just a few minutes for me. I mean, it’s not like I am asking them to take a whole week off just for little ol’ me. But then again, we tend to get so busy in our day to day lives that the Lord in heaven would also ask, “can’t they spare just a few minutes for me?” Many of us Christians are frustrated. Frustrated because we are overly busy with personal pursuits and possessions. We are trying to make a name for ourselves, trying to build an empire, trying to immortalize our names.   Victory comes to those who give God first place. From childhood we have recited the verse from Matt 6:33 that reminds us to “seek first the kingdom of God…then all things will be added to us.” It all begins with God. Spending time in prayer, worshiping Him, seeking His face, taking time to care for His flock.

I am reminded of four friends of mine who work with us in the AWE4HIM praise ministry team. It was soon after their graduation, the time that the review for their nursing board exam began, that a crusade started in a nearby town. These ladies, knowing how important these exams were to them, still decided to spend their evenings with us, leading out in the praise singing portion of the service. They would arrive back in the dorm as late as midnight, and would get up early for the review and towards evening, take the trip out to the crusade sight. Not all their classmates understood why they would risk things that way but these ladies have a passion for heavenly things and understood clearly what Matt 6:33 meant. They played their part in the reviews and still made time for the Lord. When the results came out I received an email that all four of these ladies had passed. Now they work in the Adventist University of the Philippines.

Do you make and take time for God. When was the last time you spent a wholesome hour in prayer? Are you so busy with life’s agenda that you do not get time to speak to your master? Seek first the Kingdom of God, and see how He will diminish your frustrations and grant you the desires of your heart!
