SKITZ UNLIMITED: "The Worship Skit"

September 23, 2010

A short skit with Anthony Stanyer, Jigz Dapat, and Ludy Gel Bañez.

In John 4 Jesus is talking to a woman who is confused about worship. In their conversation, Jesus equated worship with water. Water is vital to our existence. We can survive only a few days without it. If water is so important to life, so is spiritual water to our souls.

Some individuals attend church each week looking for the glass of spiritual water that is worship and return home never having really worshiped.

There are churches that attempt to play it safe by just allowing the certified to explain worship, because worship can be dangerous, messy and confusing. This produces a generation of church goers who are spoon fed.

Jesus said, “Worship in spirit and in truth.” Worshiping in spirit is reflecting upon what God is doing in your life. That builds love, affection, and adoration which can cause someone to become a living sacrifice for Christ’s kingdom. Worshiping in truth is our constant upgrading of God’s love letter to humanity, our study of how we live to be more like Christ—it’s the understanding that leads us into Truth, and not just what the pastor said last week.

Worship, is very personal and intimate. Like any good relationship, it needs to be based on reality. Only then can it take one through the thick and thin and over the highs and lows. Failing that it can become confusing and even dangerous! Obedience is the test of faith. We have to come to the point where we are willing to risk everything for our continuing relationship with our best Friend. It may even lead to martyrdom.

Worship is trusting God as we do a faithful friend. When we have a genuine relationship with Christ our life will change, and we will find ourselves acting from our hearts and understanding the truth that “if you love Me, you will be anxious to do what I say.” (John 14:15 Paraphrased).

How’s your worship?
